Shane Hedderson

Shane Hedderson is a business sustainability professional with over 11 years of experience working in the end-of-life plastics and packaging management industry. Shane is the Western Canadian Director for Cleanfarms – a national non-profit Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) organization – where he leads a team of 5 who help develop and operate important recycling programs for farmers across western Canada, in addition to leading a circular economy strategy for the Canadian agricultural industry. Shane has travelled extensively to some of the areas in the world most impacted by plastic pollution and witnessed first-hand the consequences of mismanaged plastic waste. He hopes to use his personal, professional and academic dedication to environmental protection and his lived experiences in the recycling industry to help MYP achieve their mission of eliminating plastic pollution in Canada.  

Shane holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Business from the University of Waterloo and an MBA in Sustainable Commerce from the Lang School of Business at the University of Guelph. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending his time portaging, hiking, cross-country skiing, and travelling to new and exciting places.
